CONNECTICUT TAG, Genocide Education and Governor Rell

An Act Concerning Genocide Education (HB 5595) has passed the Education and Appropriations Committees with funding of $25,000 allocated for teacher training and curriculum resources. We are asking for an appropriation of $90,000 for genocide education teacher trainings, materials, and an assessment.

Please ask your legislators (http://www.cga.ct.gov/maps/townlist.asp) to co-sponsor House Bill 5595 and provide $90,000 for genocide education teacher trainings, materials, and a state assessment on current genocide education in school. Please let us know how your call goes by contacting Nell at okie@teachagainstgenocide.org.

Please email Governor Rell at Governor.Rell@ct.gov and ask her to support a funding level of $90,000 for teacher training, materials and an assessment in the Act Concerning Genocide Education (HB 5595) when she meets with legislative leaders to work out the budget.

Debra Borrero, Governor Rell's Deputy Director of Policy & Legislative Affairs, suggested that we email Governor Rell. This is one of our best chances of getting the extra funding for genocide education.

Thank you!
